Beamish Agricultural Festival

The 1st Beverley  B.P. Girl Guide Company join a convalescing unit of the Gordon Highlanders at the Beamish Agricultural show during the Great War .The Guides aim to raise money for the war effort by collecting waste paper whilst the Gordon Highlanders put on a display for the agricultural workers before returning to the Front. At the show the Gordon's train the Guides in the use of the Lee Enfield rifle, thus allowing them to gain the Rifleshot Badge. At the end of the day the Guides enjoy a ride on the steam gallopers. Sidesaddle, of course!
